First: What Is White Light?

Wait, Why Not Violet?

Good question! Violet scatters even more than blue, but:

Two Reasons:

  • Our eyes: Human eyes are more sensitive to blue light than violet
  • The Sun: Sun emits less violet light than blue

So blue wins the sky color contest!

Why Are Sunsets Red?

Evening time! Now the Sun is low in the sky. Light travels through way more atmosphere.
